May 21, 2012. WIP: Giraffe hoop art! (Custom order for Christie)
A client asked for embroidery hoop art featuring a giraffe, the name “Elyse,” and pink and green color scheme. This was the quick sketch that I sent her for the design I had in mind. Maybe I should have colored it in before taking the photo… x]
I changed up the proportions as I was cutting the felt to make it cuter… that always seems to happen because I can never DRAW exactly what’s in my head — it’s always easier to cut or crochet it. >.<
Anyway, now it’s just waiting to be sewn!!! :D

YAY!!! THIS IS AMAZING! Catherine is the first to post a photo of her finished bunny! I love the colors she chose for her sweater. :) Can’t wait to see more amigurumi bunnies around the world!

I’m writing one of my two papers for Child Development right now… and instead of writing “rough and tumble play,” I accidentally wrote “rough and tumblr play.” Can you tell what was on my mind instead of writing about preschool observations? :P I didn’t catch the typo till a few paragraphs later, and then I made the same mistake again as I typed this post. -____- Haha…
It’s going to be a long night, a pot of coffee kind of night…
In brighter news, I’ve made 102 bracelets for my students so far (and a super colorful necklace for the teacher for whom I volunteer)! Another 36 phrases are already spelled out and waiting to be strung with fancy schmancy glow-in-the-dark beads. How many do you think I can finish before Monday? Haha ha T__T… I’ll sleep when the school year’s over!!!

WIP: Bracelets w/ positive messages! The students that I mentor have been working on a project in hopes to make a difference on their campus, and I offered to help… lol…
Through a school-wide activity that they’ve been planning for weeks, they’re trying to promote positive self-image and the celebration of diversity. Yay them! :D I’ve become a bracelet-making MACHINE!!! I’ve only been sleeping 3-4 hours a day for the last couple of days… but if my students are able to reach out to more kids because they have extra help, then it’s totally worth it. I can’t wait to see how their activity turns out.
I may need your help later this week to come up with positive phrases that I can make from the remaining letters!
Right now, I need to sign off and focus on schoolwork. Haha >.< Two papers are due tomorrow morning, and two more are due on Wednesday… on top of class, volunteering/mentoring, work, and Girl Scouts during the next couple of days… I GOT THIS.

This year has been off to an amazing start — I’ve been more busy than I have ever been before, but I’ve achieved goals that I had previously thought were only wishful dreams. For example, I am finally starting my own little online shop (it’s still under construction lol), and I JUST published my first amigurumi pattern!! “Spring Bunny” is the first amigurumi pattern that I’ve ever published!!! This is a huge accomplishment in my crafting life, and I want to thank you all for being so encouraging throughout this entire experience. I’m so happy that I feel like frolicking in circles right now, throwing imaginary confetti and singing my heart out — and that’s an understatement. :P These Spring Bunnies will forever hold a special place in my heart, and I hope that you’ll enjoy crocheting them as much as I did. ♥

My aunt and I have been proofreading my Spring Bunny crochet pattern over and over… and over and over again. *big inhale, and exhale* I think it’s finally ready for publication!!! This makes me so nervous and queasy. Haha it’s a really big milestone in my crafting life. :)

On the evening before Chloe had to move away (she’s already been adopted by a lovely family in Sacramento!!!), we spent some time playing in their favorite garden. I decided to take lots of photos, and these turned out to be my favorite! Zoey kept photobombing and jumping on Chloe, laughing and giggling as Chloe tried very hard not to topple over!!! :)
At the end of the day, Zoey and Chloe sat quietly and gazed off into the distance, reflecting on all the great memories they’ve shared. They’re sad that they won’t be moving to the same home together, but there’s no doubt that they’ll find happiness wherever they go. Bon voyage, Chloe! ♥

This past weekend, Zoey and Chloe wanted to spend a nice, relaxing day at the park. Who knew that they’d almost get run over by huge ducks?!?!?!?! My goodness, what a close call!
